Paul Revere, where are you when we need you? Well, it's really too late. The beachhead has been secured, the troops are entrenched, and the commander of the expeditionary forces, AKA, Britain's Mr Safety, has established headquarters in Orlando for his non-profit Children's Safety Foundation, Inc.
His current war is against the epidemic of death and injury of the youth of America, and brings to this country a rich and successful tradition from his beloved England.
Forgoing a promising acting career, Jason Conrad dedicated his life to child injury prevention in 1971, after witnessing a tragic accident resulting in a child's death. "Etched forever in my memory, it was the turning point in my life!" said the handsome and dynamic Conrad.
Appearing at over 6,000 schools entertaining and educating over three million children throughout the United Kingdom and Europe, Mr Safety has already performed to over 250,000 American children. "There is no doubt Mr Safety has saved many children's lives!" stated James Tye, director general of the British Safety Council.
To honor his commitment to children's safety, Conrad, friend to Sir Winston Churchill's daughter, Lady Mary Soames, has been presented to His Royal Highness Prince Charles, Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Kent, along with many other dignitaries - the ultimate accolade, his presentation to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, who congratulated Mr Safety on his "excellent work with children and other charities!"
After twenty-three years, this energetic champion of children displays not the slightest sign of slowing down.
Through providing the aura of super hero, this Silver Knight convinces his audience he is, like them, only human and therefore destructible. The show opens with the children becoming immediately involved. He asks what they wish to be when they grow up. He answers their replies with, "Great! Now I am going to tell you how you can achieve your ambitions because to do so you have to stay alive. To stay alive you must think for yourself!"
"I worked with Mr Safety several years ago and his message was vital and he made it so much fun for the children. They were very receptive!" said Betty Lowery, spokeswoman for the Orange County Public School System.
No Less a local entertainment giant than Sea World has joined with Mr Safety to present a Mr Safety Extravaganza on Saturday, October 15 at Sea World's Atlantis Water Ski Stadium.
